Words from Wise Women: Sandra Bullock

"I have so many people to thank for my good fortune , and this is once-in-a-lifetime experience, I know." - Sandra Bullock

Photo from Perez Hilton
Talk about another person I look up to in the movie industry? Yes! Sandra Bullock, she is. Last Friday, the great Good Friday , my sisters and I had a little short staycation in a friend's house as they went to Bangkok to enjoy the Holy Week, we happened to watch the movie The Blind Side with of course the ever stunning, Sandra.

As I watched the movie I am reminded of her immense prowess in acting which could make you either laugh so achingly or cry so sweetly. She just has this undeniable ability to make her audience , in whatever film , she's in love her the most. She's just so fierce yet so gentle , bold yet unnerved, and above all comedian yet not. She's just a perfect combination of all those opposites which made me so much satisfied whenever I watch a movie of her. Watch her The Proposal, The Blind Side, Miss Congeniality, While You Were Sleeping , The Lake House, Hope Floats , 28 Days, All About Steve and  lot more then you'll surely have hard time adjusting your jaw from too much laughing , eyes from too much crying , and heart from too much hurting  back to their normal being.

And the introductory quote , which speaks of my life's status at the moment  , I used kept reappearing on my mind as I watched her and so I told myself, she deserves to be in my blog so whenever I just think of her outlooks in life I can just open my site, and so this happens.

Others of my favorites are these:

"I've been granted so many times with different experiences."
"When someone who cares about you hugs you , hug them back with two arms. Don't do the one armed hug. 'Cause when you hug with two arms ,  it allows you to lean on somebody and we always need someone to lean on."
"Sometimes , questions come at you that you just don't know how to answer."
"Composing means you have beginning , middle , and end and a fluidity to what you are doing ."
"Beginnings are usually scary and ending are usually sad , but it's the middle that counts. You have to remember this when you find yourself in the beginning."
" . . . relationships that start under intense circumstances , they  never last."
" . . . there is no race , no religion , no class system , no color , nothing , no sexual orientation , that makes us better than anyone else . We are all deserving of love."
"I have to step up and be the best version of myself so whatever is asked of me , I can produce.  So yes ,  everyday I'm grateful."
"I've made peace with the fact that the thing that I thought were weaknesses or flaws were just me. I like them."
"You don't have to give birth to someone to have a family. We're all family --- an extended family."
"I was rejected in school because I didn't look like the big-breasted, beautiful girls. I was awkward and sad. My mother always said, "Be Original", but I didn't understand until I changed to be like everyone else. Once I fit in, I was like, "What have I done? I realized that my friends before were much cooler, with a great sense of humor and a way of looking at the world that was more fun. But if I haven't gone through that I wouldn't have been drive to make my oddities cool. It's what made me have a sens of humor and a thick skin.
"I'm a true believer in karma . You get what you give whether it's good or bad."
"If I die tomorrow, will I have gotten everything in the world I've ever wanted? No. But I will have gotten everything that made me the happiest."

And because my life's season at the very moment , if I am to say , is at its peak of success,  this one summarizes everything:
"Success comes in a very prickly package. Whether you choose to accept it or not, is up to you."
"Nothing is a failure , it's just not supposed to work out that way because something better is supposed to come along."

Musings of Mighty Men : Mr. Amari Soul

"You have to be willing to let go of everything
to be able to hold each other forever." - Mr. Amari Soul

Photo from Mr. Amari Soul
Because I ain't over yet with this very riveting masterpiece called the Reflections of Man , hence I am making my second Monday Musings of Mighty Men post an extension of my previous review of Mr. Soul's book. Albeit I wont be talking about how well-written the book is in here , because I absolutely did that in the said review , I still assure you the enjoyment you get reading these lines.

But just a little segue , if you are quite curious why his photo does not show his face, don't worry we're on the same boat. Actually , we are plenty on the same boat! hahahah! Don't dare ask me why for I, too , cant give you any logical reason why this very brilliant writer just won't show his face. Probably in the near future. Soon.  ;)

Other than the poem I included at the very bottom of my review for this book, (click here) I also have the following as my personal favorites. They all are just so overwhelming for the heart. It's as if reading these brought to a reverie of me having a face-to-face convo with Mr. Soul. Oohhhhh! How I love that to happen! Another wishful thingking it is.  hahahah ! Here they are by the way . Please do take time to nourish every sing meaning of each thought below guys for they will surely not just comfort your souls, and stimulate your brains but they will also pamper and fatten your hearts.  Enjoy! :)

She Needs A Man Who Is Not Afraid
She needs a man who is not afraid to give himself
completely to her without fear of consequence
and without pause.
A man not afraid to allow himself to become
emotionally vulnerable in order to make that
deep connection she so needs.
A love connection so deep that it sits at the very
footsteps of her soul.
Now, I'm not talking about ordinary love,
I'm talking about the next level type of love;
That type of love that only fairytale books speak of.
That's what she wants. . .  that's what she needs.

More Than Just Her Man

She needs you to be more than just her man.
She needs you to be her best friend and her confidant:
For you to be her voice of reason, when she needs advice.
and her soundboard when she needs vent.
At the end of the day, she needs you to be the one person
who , no matter terrible the storm,
she can always count on to protect her from the rain.
She needs all of this to be consistent,
something she can count on to never change.
That's what she wants . . . that's what she needs.

Take Her Breath Away

That's what she wants . . . that's what she needs.
You see , she needs a man that can take her breath away
and make it hard for her to breathe.
She needs a man that makes her feel so weak
that she drops down to her knees;
but not for the reason you think.
You see, even the wrong man can catch her eye , but only
the right man can capture her imagination
and stimulate her mind.
So when she drops down to her knees, it's to thank God
for his hand,
in putting her in the right place , at the right time ,
to meet the right man.
That's all she ever wanted . . . that's all she ever needed.

What Are Her Dreams

What are her dreams and ambitions?
Have you asked her?
If not , why?
That's a big part of being her man.
How can you support what you don't know?

What Does Love Mean To You
Love is probably one of the most powerful and misused word in the vocabulary . If you ask 100 different people what love means to them, you would probably get 100 different answers. Here's my take: love is the indescribable someone makes you feel inside. It's the feeling that grips you at the very core of your soul; one that makes you feel like nothing else. For a woman , it's comforting , reassuring and provide her with a sense of peace and security. For a man , it strengthens our resolve, gives us a sense of purpose , and the confidence to believe we can accomplish anything.

She Still Believes

If she decides to give you a second chance,
it's not usually because you deserve it; but rather because
she still believes in you and the idea that love ,
if given the chance , will somehow prevail in the end.

Grandparents Style of Love

Think about it for a second . . . they didn't have any
email , cell phones , text messages , Twitter m Facebook , or
Instagram and they made it work. Not because it was
easier , but because ,  back then , they had to spend
quality time with each other because there was no
other way to make it work. Maybe that's a lesson from
the past that we can all learn from.
Take time to spend time  . . . it works.

Walk With Her

Take a walk with her.
Find an intimate place where the ambiance
is so beautiful that it can never be erased from her
mind , body , or her soul ;
Take a walk with her and just talk.
The power of you walking and holding her hand,
next to a restless ocean as it crashes down
and erases the footsteps in the sand is unforgettable;
Just walk with her.

The Unwritten Love

To my love,
You are the most beautiful being
that I have ever seen in my entire life.
And no dream will ever compare
to the reality that we share
or the passion in this moonlit night.
Now as for you, follow your dreams
when you see your vision is clear,
and worry not about companionship for I will always
be near. I am your friend , indeed ,one whom you  can
depend on when in need ; I'll be your breath when you
cannot breathe . . . I'll be all you'll ever need.
Through the good times and the bad,
through the happy times and the sad ,
though I'll sometimes make you mad . . .I'll be the best
friend you'eve ever had.

It is already a given fact that we women are , most of the time, attention seekers especially when it comes to our men who give us so much affection. Our moods swing like a pendulum with so much tension. And trust me ,it is on those times that we wanted to have our men, other halves, lifetime partners, or however you call it to stick to us no matter how sour ourselves are at a given instance. It is during those times that we felt we are loved too much by them especially if they have understood us in the moment our personalities become constipated. And it is those times that we wanted to be tamed when the beasts and the monsters within us start to reveal their true unlovable forms.

In the not so bright side, it is also during those time that we question and try to measure their love towards us when, and only when, they tend not fathom us the way we expected them to be, when they try to push us away instead of embracing the bitterness that we have, and when they try to enrage us the more instead of taming the dragons that we've become. And that's where broken relationships get in.

So as to salvage the relationship, actions have to be taken. And what's the best key to this trouble??? UNDERSTANDING. Both must understand each other because as what they say "It takes two to tango."

The aforementioned lines of Mr. Soul are just a few of his beautiful reminders how we, women ,should be understood the more by our men. He gives not only the men, but also us the women, the idea as to how to keep a relationship lasting. And because of these, my great admiration of Mr. Soul is unending and I look forward to more of his books to come. :)

Thank you for spending a fraction of your time with me!!! Until then! :)

Words from Wise Women : Kate Winslet

"I wouldn't dream of working on something that didn't make my gut rumble and my heart want to explode." - Kate Winslet

Photo from Independent
Last Monday, my site has given birth to another category of post: Musings of Might Men. And so starting today , Wednesday in specific , yours truly will have to post exquisite quotes I found much more than amusing from wise women I look up to and adore. These quotes either mean to be sooo me or that they coincide my beliefs and/or principles in life or better yet they are just so perfect that they seem to stun my entire being . To begin with, let's have the ever gorgeous,  Kate Winslet . ;)

The very first moment I saw her was in Titanic back when I was in third grade. And as a young film viewer that time, who would ever forget that unsinkable ship , the Titanic with this beautiful lady and a very strategic and talented man? None of course!

Though we're on the same gender, I was mesmerized by her beauty. I so admired her even I was at the ripe age of  nine and I knew right that very moment, she was different among other actresses ( though for the fact I knew only a few back then ) She was real. Ever since then so many of her films have become my all-time favorites (the very recent  The Dressmaker, The Reader, The Holiday , Finding Neverland . . .  and the list goes on)  She's the type of actress I respect profusely ; fantastic at her craft , and so honest about life. She's really someone I'm proud to see in various magazine covers (which I do not own , hahahha) and someone I look up to when it comes to body image. :)

So here are a few of  her words of wisdom:
"I was a wayward child , very passionate and very determined. If I made up my mind to something, there was no stopping me."
"Yes, my life is incredible but oh my god, I have to work at it. It's the same way for any working woman. You run and you work and  you try not to let anything drop."
"There are moments to indulge and enjoy , but I always know when to go home and wash my knickers."
"As a child, I never heard one woman say to me : 'I love my body.' Not my mother , my elder sister , my best friend. Not one woman has ever said : 'I am so proud of my body.' So, I make sure I say it to Mia because a positive physical outlook has to start  from a very early age."
"I think it's very important to teach your children to struggle on some level."
"I'd much rather be known as some curvy Kate  than as some skinny stick.
"Nobody is perfect. I just don't believe in perfection. But I do believe in saying, 'This is who I am and look at me not being perfect.' I'm proud of that."
 "There's more life than cheekbone."
"I need to be looked after. I'm not talking about diamond rings and  nice restaurants and fancy stuff --- in fact  that makes me uncomfortable. I didn't grow up with it and it's not me , you know. But I need someone to say to me : Shall I run you a bath?' or ' Let's go to the pub , just us.'"
"I do think that's important to young women to know that magazine covers are retouched.  People don't really look like that . In films I might look glamorous , but I've been in hair and make up for two hours."
"Even now I do not consider myself to be some kind of great , sexy beauty . I don't mind the way I'm aging . No reason to panic just yet .  The Lord God Almighty  has done me proud with my features  which I'm proud of and have no desire to alter them. I say ' Let take its course."'
"I don't feel like a movie star  in my life at all , and I don't particularly think  I behave like one . I don't have my own plane . I don't have a chef or a trainer .  To me you're a movie star during the time you are at the Academy Awards or at an important glamorous event. It's very much a hat that you wear ,  and as soon as the event's over ,  that hat comes off.  I'm back to being me  and being Mommy , and that's my priority.''
"When you're the mother of  small children , life becomes a holiday."
"Life is short , and it's here to be lived."

Ohhh , Kate! Such an inspiration you are!

Cee's Musings and Reflections

Whose attention wouldn't be caught with these?

Caution: BEWARE they'll be hitting your heart.

Disclaimer: The first six photos I used are not my own and I do not claim them to be my own. To find the original source you can click "this". Thank you. :)

I told you, they all have that one thing in common. They pierce holes in your heart with all that  painful honesty. So while I  encountered these and more lines from Mr. Soul, I showed to my bf one of those posts and told him, "Awa ni paw ohh, nice kau mga lines niya. Nindot gyud siguro ni nga book buh. Gnahan kau ko magbasa sa iyang quotes jud." (Look at this Paw, his lines are just so profound. Surely, his book is great, as  well . I really love reading his quotes.")

As always he has this ability to just observe things and sometimes as if not minding things I say but he remembered every single details of them.

The days continued as its usual way while I continued scanning Mr. Amari's fb page devouring the beautiful and poignant quotes in there. I marveled to each one of them.

The second time, I showed Pawix a picture-quote of Mr. Soul, despite of my jovial expression, he just lifelessly muttered, "Okay, nice one." And so disappointed all I was. Until he went back to Manila to process his papers for work, he kept dropping hints that he is in a hunt for something.

. . .until later on, after visiting quite a number of stores,  he started revealing what he was hunting down.

. . . to finally saying that search! All I had in my mind was that he was looking for the book "What the Dog Saw"  by Malcolm Gladwell for I was in search of it in NBS here only to find out there's none. Mr. Amari Soul's book was totally washed out in my mind when he was dropping his hints. hahahah

. . . and to finally, taadaaaahhh! He got the book for me!!! :D

. . .  these then became his bouquet of roses last Valentine's Day. :)

So much about this history, the moment I started reading the book of Mr. Soul page by page, the more I get to love him, his book, and  his perspectives about relationships. It then became a very important part of my day. Like when I read a line or a part or even the entire chapter and it hits me that hard, it makes me look up my ceiling and ponder all those things he wrote agreeably.

To be honest, I read the book, only a couple of pages to 5  in a day, because I wanted to devour all the words he put up in making great sentences, digest EVEEEERYTHING he has written, and to fully grasp the points he is making. In short I never wanted to end the book that fast which had me almost 3 weeks to finish it. And I was so saddened when I reached the last page. It meant I have to end my contemplative days with him . Well , I guess that is how it always is when a good book comes to an end, right???

Although at first what to be read are of negativity, the middle and the latter will surely blow your minds away. And if I am to rate it in a scale of 10, I'm giving it a perfect 11. That's how nice this book is, and just by that you could get to picture out how this book is such a perfection to me.

Hat's off to you Mr. Amari Soul! Thank you endlessly for  sharing your wonderful mind and how extraordinary are your ways of looking relationships by writing this book. May you continue writing more and may you inspire others the most! Thank you!

Remarkable Lines from the Book

. . . such a perfect acknowledgement

"There is no such thing as a self-made man."

"True love remains consistent regardless of the situation or the environment."

"Sometimes, the best way to get an honest answer is not to ask the question directly but indirectly."

"Trust your intuition; it will lead you to what you need to hear and not necessarily what you want to hear."

"A man who can't look at you in the eye, either isn't interested in how you actually feel about the conversation, has confidence issues, or is hiding something from you."

"Remember this: a good man can't be kept and the wrong man isn't worth keeping."

"Any man who tries to break you mentally, is already broken both mentally and emotionally."

"A strong man and a strong woman create a strong union. If one or the other is weak, the relationship suffers."

"Any man can pick you up physically, but it takes an exceptional man to lift you up emotionally and spiritually."

"I don't see anything wrong with you confirming the loyalty and the trustworthiness of the one you entrust your heart."

"Confirmation simply proves or disproves your beliefs, one way or the other."

"It's not always the question that eat you up but more so the idea of not having the answer to the question that wears on you."

"When trust is gone everything else will follow."

". . . cheating on you should not have been one of those options."

"Apologies are for accidents or for when someone does something and ,  at the time , they had no idea it would hurt you."

". . . at the time he cheated, he knew that his actions would hurt you; thereby ruling out the argument that "he didn't know."

"When a man cheats a woman, it's not so much the physical act that hurts her; it's the feeling of her being emotionally betrayed by the one person she loved and trusted to never to do such a thing . . . that's what hurts the most."

"Some people get a second chance while others don't because some people are willing to change while others don't."

"Every relationship has its good moments and those moments often create great memories."

"There are times when people change and it's up to you as to whether or not you believe their change is enough for you to take them back."

"Your willingness to forgive him shows that you are strong enough to be able to move forward without holding it against him."

"Your decision to give him second chance should be largely based on whether or not you should believe whatever has happened will happen again.

"He'll only change if he wants to change; my question is, if you don't like the man he is today, why are you with him now?

"You can't change a man, but you can definitely be a big part of the reason he decides to change."

"It's impossible to hold on to a relationship when the other person has already decided to let it go."

"True love is an exciting experience . . . one that should never cause you to feel emotionally lonely."

"Some of you are more 'in love' with the idea of 'being in love' than you are 'in love' with the person you are with."

"Have you ever felt like your heart had been ripped right out of your chest . . .  like when they walked out the door, they took with them  your very last breath?

"one of the most disappointing things that you , as a woman ,  could ever go through is to fall in love with a man that can't love and respect himself yet."

"The worst feeling you can have is the feeling of being stuck in a physical relationship with someone you have already emotionally separated from."

"A strong woman won't give up on her relationship until she is completely fed up and her leaving is the only option she has left. And even then . . . it's hard for to do."

"A strong woman knows that being strong is not an option for her, it's a necessity."

"The reality is that sometimes, it takes more strength to let go that it does to keep holding on."

"So blessed is the smile of the woman that has been forged by the fire and the many years of lesson learned."

"When you forgive , you don't do it for the other person's sake , you do it for your own sanity and peace of mind."

"Forgetting what they've done would erase the memory and  in the memory is where you fine the lesson. However , forgiving removes the weight of the past from your shoulders and allows you to move forward without them. The past is what it is ; yo can't change it. What you can do is learn from it and use that to make better decisions in the future."

"Sometimes , the only person who can help you is you."

"Ladies , for a moment , stop worrying about what everyone else thinks and do what makes you happy."

"There's nothing wrong with holding on and there's nothing wrong with letting go. The trick is deciding which one is for you."

"Give yourself a fair chance to find true happiness."

"You just have to say it for  yourself, "I'm not willing to accept anything less than what I deserve! I am smart! I am beautiful! I am a good woman, and I deserve to be happy!" It all starts with you."

"Be the woman you you want to be, not the woman everyone else expect you to be."

"God makes no mistake. If you look at it from that perspective, you will see that you are a perfect t creation of what he intended when he created you. Be proud of who you are. After all, you're bot only a one in a million . . . you're a once in a lifetime."

"You are beautiful just the way you are."

"More often than not, it's the little things that matter the most."

"There are mainly three types of people who would criticize you for having a strong wall around your heart. Those who are too lazy to work for your love , those that have never been through the lesson , and those who have been through it but haven't learned."

"A strong woman in self-defined. She knows that the only definition of her that matters is her own."

"To my Strong , Beautiful Woman: Be strong . . . Be patient. The right man is out there searching relentlessly , through all the nonsense , looking for you. Give him time."

"When you are extraordinary , ordinary just won't do."

"The most important impression a man can make you is not the first impression but rathre a lasting impression that only comes from consistency over time."

"Good men don't run. So , if  you find yourself having to chase a man , stop . . . that's the wrong man."

"Never let the hurt or the anger of a bad separation fool you into disrespecting yourself."

"Make sure you don't break yourself trying to fix a man that is already broken."

"Never waste your time trying to convince someone else of your worth. If they can't see it , they are not worth the effort."

"The beautiful thing about the ones who truly love us is that they are always able to see our worth , often the ones that remind us pf it. fact , they are it whenever they think we're settling for less than we deserve."

"A healthy relationship should grow with you, not against you."

"A man's love for you means absolutely nothing if it doesn't come with an  uncompromising loyalty to you and your relationship; that should be non-negotiable."

"The right man won't break your heart; he'll protect it."

."A man doesn't necessarily have to agree with your past , but he should be willing to accept it if he wants to be a part of your future."

"The right man will find himself before he looks for you."

"If you love her , be strong enough , not only to tell her , but to show her as well , or be strong enough to watch her be loved by someone else."

"If you don't talk to her ,  for at least an hour each day , you'll have no idea about is going on in her life."

"A woman's silence is one of her most powerful forms of communication; it conveys emotions ,  so intense , that no words could possibly describe how she feels at that moment."

"Talk 'to' her and not 'at' her . . . there's a difference."

"Don't lose her because you allow your ego to become bigger than your heart."

"When she share to you her problems, it's not that she is complaining; she simply trusts you enough to talk to you about them."

"Just because she smiles, doesn't mean she's happy. To understand how she really feels. you have to let her talk and yo have to be willing to listen."

"A good woman is willing to fight long and hard for the man she loves and believes in; but just because she's willing to fight for you, doesn't mean she won't leave you , if you take her loyalty for granted."

". . . if she can't to you , then who?

"It's never easy for a good woman to walk away; especially after she's invesed so much of herself into making it work."

"A strong woman doesn't need a man to take care of her. What she needs is a man secure enough to understand and not to be intimidated by it."

"She does thing no only for herself , but at time , for you as well."\

"Pay attention to her .  Talk to her . Listen to her . Love her . Respect her . Keep her so close that you leave no room for her to doubt."

"Healthy relationships are based upon building up, not tearing down."

"As long as you love him and he loves you and you both are fully committed  to making it work, nothing or no one can ever come between you."

To sum everything up, I'd like to end this post with my most favorite page of the book. It's found at the very last one ,and to me it conveys so much  more than the literal words mean. Hail to the saying, "Save the best for last." :)

My Favorite Story

"It's not the cover of a book that makes it a keeper . . . it's the story."

If you were a book, I would describe you
as one with the most beautiful  cover.
One that was so sexy and unique
that it stood out from all the others.
now, that may be enough to pick you up
and peruse your pages
because relationships are like an open book,
and the intro is the first of several stages.
But , to be honest , I need more than just a pretty cover
for me to keep you.
I need to fall in love with your story
and you have to promise to fit me into your sequel.

Thank you for the time you've spent going over this blog post! Keep updated for more reviews. :)
